Get off your high horse

In medieval times, high-ranking individuals rode taller horses than commoners, literally looking down on people from their elevated position. Military leaders and royalty used large warhorses called destriers as symbols of superiority. Telling someone to "get off their high horse" means asking them to stop acting superior.
