A month of Sundays

Meaning an extremely long time, this expression dates back to the early 19th century. Since Sundays were traditionally days of rest and religious observance — often considered the slowest, most tedious day of the week — a month made up entirely of Sundays would feel interminable. It first appeared in print around 1832.
